Arena Food Service, Inc., a privately owned and fast growing food service management company, is currently seeking an experienced Cafeteria Assistant at a facility in Manteno, IL. The successful candidate will work within the Dietary Department, ensuring quality food and great customer service. The Cafeteria Assistant will direct and assist the preparation and serving of meals and the needs of the customer and will work directly under the General Manager to assure the smooth operation and integration with other facility departments. This position is part-time. The wage for this position is in accordance with State of Illinois Prevailing Wage requirements.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Provide restaurant style service to all residents and guests.
- Assist residents, guests and team members with the utmost respect and courtesy.
- Present a professional demeanor that communicates a corporate philosophy of service, goodwill, and genuine interest in each resident's needs.
- Reads and follows menu and recipe for each meal.
- Performs cooking duties with other workers.
- Portions and presents food in a healthful and aesthetically pleasing manner.
- Takes orders, prepares and manages the transaction for each meal served.
- Ensure a clean and sanitary environment within the kitchen, storage and servery.
To be considered for this position, a successful candidate:
- Will posses previous cooking experience, preferably in a short order or restaurant setting, preferred.
- Will be able to read, write and understand English.
- Will be capable and enjoy multi-tasking.
- Will be in good mental and physical condition. Must be able to be on your feet for extended periods of time. Ability to occasionally lift objects weighing up to 50lbs from the ground is required.
- Will be able to work productively with with a diverse group of co-workers.
- Will enjoy working with the elderly and working within a tight-knit community.
- Will be flexible in schedule.
- Must have knowledge of food preparation principles, food sanitation, and food service operation.
- Must be able to count money and operate a cash register. Experience with tablet based POS system is preferred.
- Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check in accordance with the Illinois Health Care Workers Registry.
- Must have a Food Service Sanitation Manager Certificate or be willing to obtain certificate within 30 days of hire.
